FMC OTI lookup guides

How to read an FMC OTI record.

Find the company, check the record, and follow dated changes.

1. Identify the company

Search the FMC OTI directory by organization number, legal name, trade name, or location. Open the record and compare the legal name, classification, address, and organization number before using it in your review.

2. Read license, registration, and bond fields

NVOCC means non-vessel-operating common carrier. A foreign-registered NVOCC may have an organization number without a U.S. license number. Check the license number and renewal date when listed.

The company page keeps bond number, amount, surety, and effective date together. For records labeled NVOCC + freight forwarder, read the source fields before assigning a bond to a specific role.

3. Check notices and source dates

A record’s presence in this directory is separate from licensing status. Check whether it is listed in the latest FMC register, then compare the collection date, FMC source date, and any tariff or non-compliance notice date.

Company pages link to the official register and show tariff references when available. Use those links to verify the current notice or source record.

4. Review dated changes

Open Recorded changes on a company page to see changed fields and dates. When list counts differ, compare the organization number and collection dates first.

For an operational review, save the organization number, official source URL, source date, collection date, and reason for review. Complete any separate contractual, sanctions, insurance, or operational checks you require. See data status for the latest refresh information.
