IMF PortWatch daily/current activityMaritime activity · DailySource observations
- Grain
- Port-day activity
- Coverage
- Current + bounded history; Complete provider PortWatch registry for current publication; historical coverage is bounded.
- Fields
- Counts · Estimated tonnes
- Limits
- Vessel calls are provider activity observations; import/export tonnes are estimated measures. A missing port/day or incomplete registry is not a zero. Retrieval time and provider activity date remain separate.
- Use
- Preserve UN Global Platform and IMF PortWatch attribution and source links.
AISStream current sampled vessel observationsMaritime activity · Current sampleCurrent only
- Grain
- Current vessel observation
- Coverage
- Current only; Three global longitude shards with sampled coverage that is not guaranteed complete.
- Fields
- Latitude · Longitude · Speed · Timestamps
- Limits
- Current observations must not be replayed or interpreted as a historical trend. Absence from a sample is not proof of departure, non-arrival, or disruption. No named route is inferred from vessel proximity or a single current position.
- Use
- AISStream access is account-backed; credentials stay server-side and raw frames are not a retained product dataset.
U.S. Census international-trade aggregate historyTrade · MonthlySource observations
- Grain
- Monthly trade aggregate
- Coverage
- Retained history; U.S. monthly imports; district and country axes are not a guessed port or company identity.
- Fields
- U.S. dollars · Timestamps
- Limits
- Answers aggregate trade questions only; it cannot answer company-shipment or manifest questions. The retained range is bounded and may contain missing or partial months. No national nowcast, worldwide license, or port-level crosswalk is implied.

CURRENT MONTHLY TRADE
U.S. Census current trade
Latest published periodAugust 2026 · catalog published Oct 26, 2026, 8:15 AM UTC
Monthly releaseCensus monthly international-trade series are updated with the monthly release. The catalog publication timestamp is shown separately from its latest statistical month.
Public trade profilesPort imports and exports use reported vessel values. Partner and HS2 product pages compare the latest statistical month with the same month a year earlier. Their two observations are not a continuous monthly history. Monthly filtered histories remain available in the interactive explorer.
Detail refresh and retentionPartner and product aggregates are refreshed in a daily bounded rotation for Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Savannah and Norfolk. Each direction retains its last complete observation on a provider failure; total-value reconciliation and source-age checks govern publication. Customs-port identities are matched explicitly and are not inferred from similar maritime-port names.
Measure and classificationImports use General Imports value (GEN_VAL_MO); exports use total value (ALL_VAL_MO). HS2 is the default product grouping. An optional selected HS2, HS4, or HS6 code can narrow a detail query; the port-total catalog does not enumerate every commodity code.
Countries and missing valuesPartner filters use individual four-digit Census country codes. Census country-group aggregate rows are excluded to avoid double-counting. Null measurements mean unavailable; they are not converted to zero.
Geographic scopePort selections are Census Schedule D statistical ports. A Census port code is not an exact physical-facility boundary, an individual shipment, or a bill of lading.
Separate archived historyRetained January 2022–December 2025 IMDB monthly import summaries remain a distinct historical source. The current API catalog does not replace or revise those archive observations.

Current maritime activityGlobal AIS is sampled current vessel state only. PortWatch current activity is published against the provider’s full current registry.
Historical AISHistorical AIS is separate from the current sampler and appears only through explicitly authorized bulk imports with their own source evidence.
Road statusFreightWeave has no road-status feed. Reference road geometry is not traffic, routing, or operational status.

| Retained rule comparisons | Rule comparisons report changes between two retained-knowledge cutoffs, including source revisions, declared dates and documented relationships. A later retrieval is not necessarily a new legal requirement. Company context does not establish legal applicability; unresolved target versions and section-specific dates remain unknown. | Federal Register ↗ · eCFR ↗ |
| Gateway and graph views | Gateway coordinates are reference locations. Source-linked connections do not establish shipments, trading partners, port impacts, or legal applicability. Customs-district totals are not individual-port totals. | UNECE locations ↗ · IMF PortWatch ↗ |
| NASA imagery | Blue Marble and Black Marble (2016) are static NASA GIBS imagery. The day/night boundary is a computed feathered solar cutoff, not an observation. | NASA GIBS ↗ |
| USGS earthquakes | Rolling seven-day earthquake locations. They do not establish port impacts; a tsunami flag is not a tsunami warning. | USGS Earthquakes ↗ |
| NWS alert geometry | The knowledge cutoff selects a retained packet; the event cursor filters its declared effective-to-expiry windows, including the start and excluding expiry. Gray areas have unknown or invalid timing, rather than confirmed activity. Retained geometry may also be missing. Missing coverage is unknown, not an all-clear, and no gateway impact is inferred. Historical gateway views use static reference geometry, not a dated gateway registry. Current metrics, news, routes and source health are not substituted where their historical records are unavailable. | NOAA / NWS API ↗ |
| Gateway exposure | Matches use retained NWS alert polygons within 50 km and earthquake epicenters within 250 km of a gateway reference point. The retrieval cutoff controls what was known; an optional event time filters event windows. Missing snapshots or geometry remain unknown. Proximity does not establish disruption, damage, or operational impact. | NOAA / NWS ↗ · USGS ↗ |
