NVOCC, in plain English
The FMC describes an NVOCC as a common carrier that offers ocean transportation, issues its own house bill of lading or equivalent document, and does not operate the vessels used for that transportation. See the FMC definition and OTI guidance ↗.
How the directory labels the record
| Stored label | What it tells you | What to read next |
|---|---|---|
| NVOCC | The record carries the NVOCC classification. | Organization number, license field, bond fields, and source date. |
| FF | The record carries the freight-forwarder classification used by this directory. | Read the freight forwarder records. |
| NVOCC + FF | The record carries both stored classifications. | Read each role's fields on the exact company record. |
These labels describe stored FMC export fields. They do not rank a company's service, safety, or quality.
